Naruto and Fruits Basket Only Top Mangas?

According to an article from ANN it seems that Naruto and Fruits Basket are currently the ONLY 2 manga on the USA’s 150 top booklist.  Even with the dropping ranks for the both of them that was reported earlier on.

Here is the article:

Volume 30 of Masashi Kishimoto and Viz Media’s Naruto manga continues to be the most popular Japanese comic in the United States, based on the USA Today newspaper’s list of the top 150 bestselling books for the week of July 14 to July 20. It is now #73 on the list, down from #50 in the previous week.

The 20th volume of Takaya Natsuki’s Fruits Basket (Tokyopop) is once again the only other manga bestseller. It has trailed the Naruto volume in each of the three weeks since it has been published, and is now at #132, dropping over 50 spots from the previous week’s #79 position.

I have to admit, this does worry me.  After seeing such a popular show in Japan like Gurren Lagann air last night a part of me thought anime was becoming more mainstream in areas outside of Japan.  Though this article does make me reaconsider these thoughts.

Gurren Lagann on Sci-Fi

Randomly decided to check ANN for any new articles I could possibly put up when I spotted a new series on Sci-fi.  The first character I  recognized in the pic was Yoko.  I see her all over DannyChoo and different image boards I visit.  When I first began watching it I was actually telling BZou how Yoko could not replace my Shana-chan…..I have to admit I liked her more than I thought I would XD.

Overall in my opinion the dubbing was not too bad.  I have seen much worse, and since I have never seen the subbed version it did not ruin anything for me.  The overall begining story line was fantastic.  When I saw the opening I had my doubts seeing the odd looking gunman flying around, because as going in I sorta had in my head this would be like Gundam for some reason.

Episodes 1 and 2 both played in an hour segment, I am not sure if they will play it like this next week or not, but I can only hope.  I am definately looking forward to next week now ^_^.

Just wondering did anyone else sit down and watch this?  How did you think it was?  For those who have already seen it what do you think of the show overall?
